How to recognize unauthorized use of our brand
Based on the reports we systematically document, the most common patterns are as follows:
Unsolicited contact. You receive a message via WhatsApp, SMS, or phone from someone claiming to represent the firm, even though you have never been our client or contacted us. Kancelaria Skarbiec has been building client relationships for over twenty years — but always at the client’s invitation, never the other way around.
Promise to recover lost funds. The caller claims they can help recover money lost in investments or on cryptocurrency exchanges. This is the classic pattern of a recovery scam — a secondary fraud targeting individuals who have already suffered financial losses.
Time pressure. Insistence on immediate action, suggestions that “funds will be redirected” or “the deadline is expiring.” Genuine legal advice requires time for analysis — a firm that pressures you into a quick decision is not acting in your interest.
Upfront payment to a private account. Kancelaria Skarbiec issues VAT invoices from a corporate bank account. A request to transfer funds to a personal or foreign account should be an immediate red flag.

What is a recovery scam
A recovery scam is a scheme in which criminals target individuals who have previously lost money through other frauds — investment fraud, cryptocurrency fraud, trading platform fraud. They impersonate law firms, debt recovery companies, or “fund recovery specialists” in order to extract further payments or personal data.
This type of fraud is particularly insidious because it exploits trust in legal institutions and the desperation of people seeking help. As a firm that has advised clients on crypto-asset matters and investment fraud cases for years — and that has represented victims in the WGI case, one of Poland’s largest financial scandals, since 2006 — we understand how deep the wounds of lost savings run and how easily those who have been harmed once become targets again.
